Parenting Through School Avoidance Workshop

This workshop is a support workshop for parents of elementary through High school students navigating school refusal or anxiety. It is led by Amber Remackel, LPC and Rachael Opseth, LPC, therapists, moms, and former K–12 school counselors, bringing experience from multiple lenses supporting kids, teens, and parents navigating anxiety and school-related challenges.
Topics that will be covered:
- Why School Avoidance happens
- Whats underneath the behavior
- What helps and what makes it worse
- How to respond in the moment without escalating
- How to support your child and yourself
This event is actually a pilot for a 4-part summer series they will be offering called Confident Parenting. The series will include four 2-hour workshops across June, July, and August, all focused on helping parents feel more prepared going into the school year and giving them practical tools to navigate some of the more challenging behaviors that come up at home.
